Jerome, AZ is a small town that you can find perched on a mountain side between Sedona and Prescott. It was originally built as a mining town and was described a hundred years ago as:

"...the home of the ninteeth-century cliff dweller ...buildings cling to the precipitous sides of the mountain like swallows' nests." - Paul Hill, 1899

For a long time, Jerome was a ghost town. Then eventually it was rediscovered by some "bohemian types." Whether you go for the funky art galleries or the view of the valley below, it's a fun side trip.
