I wrote a book
My book has gone to print. Yippee!!
According to Amazon.com, it will be available April 24, 2007.
336 pages
293 cowboy boot photos, featuring…
82 boot companies
62 bootmakers who are accepting new orders, and another…
20 makers who’ve retired or passed on.
The cover features a pair of boots made by Carl Chappell (Saint Jo, TX.) Aren’t they swell? Black vamps with a strong white toebug, bright pink leather tops and a longhorn inlay. You’ll have to buy the book, so you can peek inside and see the detail in the stitchwork.

One of the things I’m looking forward to this year is traveling around with my book and meeting new people.
I’ve posted an events page. It’s a little early for some of the show dates, but I’ll fill in details as I get them.
Come meet me, and some swell cowboy boot makers… like Lisa Sorrell (Guthrie,OK) and Deana McGuffin (Albuquerque, NM) pictured here.

Side Effect
My web page has been up for nearly ten years. And I’ve met many of the men photographed in Tyler Beard’s The Cowboy Boot Book (1992.)
I know one thing to be true…men who wear cowboy boots get better looking with age.
It’s just a fact.
Under the Cuff
I always like to see what bootmakers wear on their feet.
These are Al Reynold’s boots inlayed with the tools of his trade… a boot last (yellow), a french hammer…even a needle and thread.
